Although every possible combination of numbers has exactly the same chance of appearing in a EuroMillions game, playing pattern entries (where your selections are selected according to a predetermined order) is something that many people enjoy doing. The downside of playing pattern entries is that if they land the jackpot there is a higher likelihood that it will have to be shared with other players who use the same pattern, so if you want to play pattern entries it is a good idea to make sure that one or more of your selections deviate from the pattern or that you only apply the pattern to a certain part of your entry. Here are two examples of what we mean:
Repeating Digits
Those of you who have a favourite digit from 0 to 9 may find the Repeating Digits approach of interest. The idea is to enter 10 lines of numbers with the main numbers all having the same second digit and that same digit also being used as one of the Lucky Stars (the only exception is Ticket 01 where both Lucky Stars have the same digit). Any gaps would then be filled by whatever random or non-pattern number you like – those gaps are indicated by XX in the illustration below:
Ticket 01 – Main Numbers 01 11 21 31 41 Lucky Stars 01 11
Ticket 02 – Main Numbers 02 12 22 32 42 Lucky Stars 02 XX
Ticket 03 – Main Numbers 03 13 23 33 43 Lucky Stars 03 XX
Ticket 04 – Main Numbers 04 14 24 34 44 Lucky Stars 04 XX
Ticket 05 – Main Numbers 05 15 25 35 45 Lucky Stars 05 XX
Ticket 06 – Main Numbers 06 16 26 36 46 Lucky Stars 06 XX
Ticket 07 – Main Numbers 07 17 27 37 47 Lucky Stars 07 XX
Ticket 08 – Main Numbers 08 18 28 38 48 Lucky Stars 08 XX
Ticket 09 – Main Numbers 09 19 29 39 49 Lucky Stars 09 XX
Ticket 10 – Main Numbers 10 20 30 40 50 Lucky Stars 10 XX
An alternative approach is to replace the first Main Number in each case with a random or non-pattern number so that you only have that number as a Lucky Star. Or you could use random or non-pattern numbers for both Lucky Stars and just use the five Main Numbers as your pattern selections.
Consecutive Lucky Stars
You could buy 10 EuroMillions tickets and use the pattern of consecutive Lucky Star numbers whilst using random or non-pattern selections for the main numbers. Here is what your ten entries might look like with XX once again used to indicate non-pattern selections:
Ticket 01 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 01 02
Ticket 02 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 02 03
Ticket 03 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 03 04
Ticket 04 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 04 05
Ticket 05 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 05 06
Ticket 06 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 06 07
Ticket 07 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 07 08
Ticket 08 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 08 09
Ticket 09 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 09 10
Ticket 10 – Main numbers XX XX XX XX XX Lucky Stars 10 11
Entering these 10 lines would guarantee that if both Lucky Stars are drawn as consecutive numbers they would both appear on one of your lines. You would then need one or more of your non-pattern main numbers to also match the results to win a prize.
Neither of these methods would actually improve your odds of landing a jackpot win, but they should be of interest to those of you who like the idea of playing pattern entries and would also like to include one or more random or non-pattern numbers among your entries. However you choose to play EuroMillions, remember to buy your tickets online to ensure their safety and good luck!
