El Gordo Delivers as EuroMillions Rolls Again

Villagers in Grañén, Spain, are celebrating after an El Gordo ticket purchased by 1,800 residents won the top prize of €700 million (£600 million) on Thursday 22 December. That jackpot figure equates to around €400,000 (£334,000) per winning player, so it is a fairly good bet that the New Year celebrations will be extra special in Grañén this weekend. There will also be plenty of celebrating done by other winners in the annual El Gordo game because the total amount of prize money won was around €2 billion (around £1.6 billion). No wonder the name El Gordo means The Fat One!

Whilst lottery players in Grañén were jumping for joy after the El Gordo draw, EuroMillions jackpot-hunters didn’t have quite so much to celebrate on Friday 23 December. The main numbers drawn on Friday were 07, 21, 22, 24 and 28, whilst the Lucky Stars were 01 and 11. Unfortunately, no ticket matched all of those numbers and so the EuroMillions jackpot rolled for the second time in a row, giving the jackpot for the game this Tuesday 27 December an estimated value of €37 million (£30 million).

Four tickets matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star to win €594,784 (£413,085) each, so those second-tier prize winners fared even better (in individual terms) than the El Gordo players in Grañén. 20 tickets matched five main numbers only to win €39,652 (£27,539) each and another 65 tickets won €6,100 (£4,237) each by matching four main numbers and both Lucky Stars. The total number of EuroMillions prizes won last Friday was a very impressive 4,309,013.

In the UK, the Millionaire Raffle game created 25 winners and each of them is now £1 million richer than they were previously. The Millionaires Month event in the UK has now ended and so the next Millionaire Raffle game on Tuesday will revert to the usual rules where just one winning number will be drawn to win £1 million.

There are now only two EuroMillions draws to go before we say goodbye forever to 2011 and see in a brand New Year, so if you like the idea of winning a life-changing prize before then, you know exactly what to do. Play EuroMillions online today, think positive thoughts and good luck!
