EuroMillions will celebrate its fifth birthday on Friday 13 February, 2009. Our favourite game was launched on Friday 13 February, 2004, and in just 60 months it has become one of the world’s most popular and successful lotteries that is easily as good as the US Powerball and Mega Millions games.
There haven’t been many changes since EuroMillions first began. Although the lottery was launched with just three participating countries (Spain, France and the UK) the other six countries that also play joined the fun just a few months later. The actual format of the game has remained roughly the same.
Most EuroMillions birthdays are accompanied by a Superdraw, but at the time of writing no Superdraws have yet been officially announced. However, there are rumours that a Superdraw may take place in March 2009. We will of course let you know if this rumour is confirmed.
In the meantime, we still have fifteen million reasons to celebrate because €15 million (around £13 million) is the size of the jackpot currently being advertised for the draw on Friday 13 February, 2009.
Over the last five years EuroMillions has helped to create some huge winners. The biggest of all individual winners was Dolores McNamara from Ireland who won €115 million in July 2005. The biggest jackpot of all was worth €185 million and this was won by three ticket-holders in February 2006. And the biggest winner in the UK so far is Angela Kelly, who managed to scoop a £35.4 million jackpot in August 2007.
We here are Euro-Millions.com would like to congratulate EuroMillions on achieving so much success in so little time. And to those of you who will be buying a ticket for the next draw, we wish you the very best of luck in getting the EuroMillions results of your dreams!
