EuroMillions Jackpot Nears its Maximum

The EuroMillions jackpot rolled over for the seventh time in a row last Friday, and that has given players an estimated jackpot of around €185 million (around £157 million) to shoot for in the midweek game this Tuesday 25 June. This is significant because the estimated jackpot is now well within kicking distance of the €190 million jackpot cap figure, which is as much as the top prize in the EuroMillions game can be worth according to current rules.

It should be pointed out that the jackpot cap doesn’t stop the top prize from rolling over again. The current rules allow a maximum jackpot to roll over for two draws, at which point the jackpot prize pool rolls downs to the next highest prize level that has winners. We are not quite at that stage yet, so we will talk more about the ‘roll down’ procedure if and when the topic becomes more relevant. In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at what happened in the previous draw.

The EuroMillions results for Friday 21 June were 10, 11, 30, 36 and 45, along with the Lucky Star numbers 01 and 02. There were eight second tier prize winners, and each of those is now €409,039 (£280,394) richer after matching all five of the main numbers as well as one of the Lucky Stars. 18 tickets matched five main numbers without either Lucky Star to win a third tier prize worth €60,598 (£41,539) each, and 112 tickets matched four main numbers as well as both Lucky Stars to win €4,869 (£3,338) each.

The number of entries was much higher than usual last Friday because of the huge jackpot that was up for grabs, and that led to a higher than average number of prizes landed. The total number of prizes won was 5,186,602, so well done to everyone who landed a consolation of any size. In the UK, one player who matched the Millionaire Raffle number QVS068423 won a cool £1,000,000, so well done to that player too!

There are now just two more EuroMillions games to go before the end of the month, and we have yet to see anyone win a jackpot. Will someone land the €185 million this Tuesday, or will the jackpot roll again and reach its maximum permitted value for Friday? The short answer is that nobody knows, so click here to buy your lottery tickets online and good luck!
