EuroMillions Predictions for 2011

EuroMillions, like all lotteries, is a game of chance, so it is impossible to predict which numbers will come up, how many winners there will be or who will be lucky enough to land themselves a jackpot win. However, all EuroMillions players can make some rough predictions about their own chances of winning a prize by taking the odds of the game into consideration, along with the number of tickets that they intend to buy and the regularity with which they intend to play. If that sounds interesting then read on and we’ll tell you how to do just that…

First, make sure that you are familiar with the odds of winning that you get with every EuroMillions ticket that you purchase. You can find a full breakdown of the odds on our EuroMillions Odds page, and we recommend that you take a look at that page as a starting point.

Next, decide how many tickets you want to buy for each EuroMillions draw that you play. Because every ticket you buy improves your odds, knowing how many tickets you intend to play is essential if you want your rough predictions to be as good as they can be.

The third step is to decide how often you intend to play EuroMillions. Will you play every week, every other week or every fourth week? When you have answered this question, use it to calculate the number of draws that you will participate in during 2011. For example, if you intend to play every week then you will participate in 52 draws during 2011.

You can now make some rough predictions about how you might fare during 2011. It is of course possible to win a jackpot by purchasing a single ticket for just one draw, but here we want to get some idea of your overall chances of winning any prize. All you have to do is compare the odds of winning any prize with the number of tickets that you intend to purchase in 2011 (the number of tickets per draw multiplied by the number of draws you intend to play in the year).

For example, if you intend to buy 52 tickets in the whole year (1 ticket in each draw) then you might expect to win two prizes on 2011 because the odds of winning any prize at all are 1 in 24. If you intend to buy 104 tickets in the year (2 tickets in each draw) then you might expect to win four prizes. You could of course win many more prizes than this, and you might not win any (the odds indicate probabilities, not guarantees), but the rough prediction should prove interesting at the very least.

Of course, if you hit the jackpot at any point then even a single win would make your participation in EuroMillions extremely worthwhile no matter how few or how many tickets you had to buy to get there.
