EuroMillions Prize Expires Unclaimed

A EuroMillions prize worth £263,598 has gone unclaimed in the UK for more than 180 days, so the prize has now been declared void and the money transferred to the UK lottery fund for Good Causes. The EuroMillions prize was won in the draw on Friday 11 June, and the EuroMillions results for that draw 02, 22, 24, 36 and 44, with 01 and 02 being selected as the Lucky Star numbers. One ticket won the jackpot and eight tickets matched the five main numbers and one Lucky Star to win £263,598 each.

Quite why this second-tier EuroMillions prize has gone unclaimed is something that we may never know. The most likely explanation is that the winning ticket was lost, misplaced or discarded without the owner ever realising that he or she had won a six-figure prize. If that is the case then it is highly unlikely that the winner will ever discover their success, which is just as well when you consider the fact that they would no longer be able to claim their prize anyway.

This is not the only EuroMillions prize to go unclaimed by any means, but the size of the prize is large enough to serve as a fresh warning to everyone who plays the EuroMillions lottery – if you play the game then be sure to check your entries against the EuroMillions results and make any claim as soon as you can.

Speaking about the unclaimed prize, a spokesperson for the lottery organiser in the UK said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money. To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis.”

When you play EuroMillions online then you are far less likely to miss out on any prize because you will be sent an email in the event that one of your entries wins. You can then make your claim straight away and thereby avoid your prize inadvertently going unclaimed.

This Friday 17 December there is a EuroMillions double rollover jackpot of around €43 million (around £36 million) to play for, so be wise, play EuroMillions online, and don’t forget to claim your prize quickly if you win! Good luck!
