Second Tier Euromillions Winners in the Money

Euromillions history was made last night as for the first time ever the Jackpot Cap that was introduced in March 2009 came into play. As the jackpot reached it's limit of €185 million players the number of tickets purchased increased dramatically ensuring that whilst the Euromillions draw on Friday 8th July may not have produced a jackpot winner who matched 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Stars, the draw did make six new millionaires in the second prize tier! As players rushed to check the Euromillions results and see if they are one of the six, we can tell you that over 7.6 million players did win something!

The majority of those 7.6 million winners were on the Match 2 numbers prize tier, there were 4,463,502 winners who each won €3.90. Much more interesting is the amount of money won by the players who match 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Stars, a whopping €4,576,071 and six players really did get lucky with the 'Jackpot Cap' coming into force.

History is in the making with the jackpot on offer for the Euromillions, the biggest jackpot previously was only €183 million so we are definitely seeing a new record. Now it's just a case of waiting to see whether it is a syndicate, single winner or multiple tickets that eventually scoops the jackpot.

The jackpot will remain at €185 million now matter how many tickets are sold but the prize fund over and above the amount will continue to be rolled down to the next winning prize tier until a jackpot winner is found. With ticket sales increasing at an exponential rate, we are likely to see even more millionaires made on Tuesday Euromillions draw.
