EuroMillions draw number 1,234 took place on Friday 19th July, and was one of the most exciting draws of the year. Not only was there a £96 million jackpot (€110 million) to be won, there were also 20 prizes of £1 million given away in a special edition of the UK Millionaire Maker Raffle.
It had been nine draws since the EuroMillions jackpot was last won, which allowed it to roll over to just short of nine figures (or just over if you played in Ireland or on the European mainland). In the previous draw on Tuesday 16th July, no one matched all five numbers and both Lucky Stars to win the jackpot, and no one in the UK matched five numbers plus one Lucky Star to win the second prize either.
Despite that, there were over 500,000 winners in the UK, who split a total prize fund of over £1.7 million. There were more than two million winners across all of the participating countries, who shared prize money of around €17 million.
With ticket sales expected to increase for Friday’s very special draw, there was a big chance that someone would have the winning line to take home one of the biggest EuroMillions jackpots of the year, and even if that didn't happen, it was guaranteed that £20 million would be won in the UK.
