Millionaire Raffle Proves Popular

The Millionaire Raffle game that was forced upon EuroMillions players in the UK last month (on Friday 13 November, to be precise) has proven to be more popular than some commentators had suggested it might be. The Millionaire Raffle is a separate game to EuroMillions and works as a simple prize draw with a single weekly prize of £1 million to the winner. Every EuroMillions ticket purchased in the UK comes with a Millionaire Raffle entry, and to cover this the price of EuroMillions tickets in the UK was increased by around one third.

The inability to ‘opt-out’ of the Millionaire Raffle and continue playing EuroMillions as usual for the regular fee upset a few UK lottery players, and predictions of EuroMillions ticket sales slowing down due to the increased cost were widespread. However, several weeks have passed since the Millionaire Raffle was introduced and no such slowdown in sales has occurred. In fact EuroMillions ticket sales figures in the UK suggest that the Millionaire Raffle has not made any negative impact whatsoever.

This is good new for EuroMillions players everywhere, because the number of tickets sold determines the size of both jackpots and secondary prizes. Had a serious slowdown in UK ticket sales occurred, all EuroMillions players would have noticed a difference in prize levels. EuroMillions players all over the world therefore have a very real cause to celebrate the success of the Millionaire Raffle in the UK even though they were not directly affected by the initial changeover.

Of course, the best excuse for an even bigger celebration is to win the EuroMillions lottery game itself. The jackpot this Friday 18 December will be worth a staggering €59 million (around £54 million) thanks to three rollovers in succession, so if you’d like to win that kind of money, or even just a slice of it, play EuroMillions online today!
