One EuroMillions ticket purchased in the UK won the €190 million jackpot on Friday, and officials have reported that the lucky owner has already submitted a claim for their prize. When the claim is authorised, the winner will receive £148,656,000, which is the second biggest lottery prize that has ever been won in the UK. The main numbers drawn in the EuroMillions game on Friday were 11, 17, 21, 48 and 50, and the Lucky Star numbers were 09 and 10.
As well as celebrating, the jackpot winner has probably been thinking very carefully about whether to opt for publicity or try to keep their success a private matter. If the winner chooses to reveal their identity to the media then we will of course bring you more details as and when we are permitted to do so.
14 tickets matched all five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars to win €2,640,734 (£1,994,323) each. That is quite a bit more than would normally be won at the second-tier level, and that’s because excess money in the jackpot prize pool (over and above the jackpot cap of €190 million) was rolled down to the prize pool for second-tier winners.
There were 24 winning tickets at the third-tier level, and each of those won €66,975 (£50,581) each by matching five main numbers only. 119 tickets matched four main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win €6,754 (£5,101) each and 2,925 tickets won €240 (£181) each by matching four main numbers and one Lucky Star. The total number of EuroMillions prizes won on Friday was 7,746,365, and in the UK the Millionaire Raffle number JDW016965 gave yet another lucky Brit a lottery prize of £1 million.
We are pleased that the EuroMillions jackpot was won by someone who was lucky enough to beat the odds and match all seven numbers, and we are now wondering how long it will be before the next jackpot winner comes along. The jackpot has been reset to its minimum (but still staggering) value of €15 million (around £11 million) for the next game this Tuesday 14 August, and there is no reason why this fresh jackpot cannot be won at the first time of asking. If you fancy your chances, play EuroMillions online today and good luck with your numbers!
