The winning numbers for Tuesday 7th July were 12, 16, 23, 33 and 41, plus Lucky Stars 8 and 10. It was the largest jackpot of the year after a rollover in Friday’s Superdraw, and it turned out to be a great night for many players. It was quickly announced that the jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Spain, with lottery operator Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (SELAE) later confirming that the entry was bought in Mayorga, Valladolid.
The ticket is understood to belong to a group of friends, according to reports, with Mayorga mayor Alberto Magdaleno already hailing the impact it will have on the winning families and the local economy.
The winning syndicate also pocketed four prizes in the second tier, worth €112,962 each, boosting their total payout by more than €450,000.
Biggest Winners
Tuesday’s win ranks as the second-biggest ever in Spain, behind the €190 million payout that went to a player from Las Palmas, Gran Canaria in October 2017.
Spain has now also created the two biggest winners of 2020, despite the fact that ticket sales in the country were suspended for a couple of months between March and May due to the Coronavirus crisis.
A Spanish participant scooped €130 million in a Superdraw on Friday 7th February and it was another Superdraw, on Friday 3rd July, which paved the way for the latest big win.
The jackpot will now reset to €17 million (£15 million) following Tuesday’s win. It has been a wonderful year so far for jackpot winners, with 14 already since the start of 2020. There were 15 in the whole of 2019, so that tally has almost been equalled in only half the time.
