EuroMillions Pair Scoop Second £1 Million Prize

As lottery players set their sights on defying the odds in tomorrow night’s EuroMillions draw, inspiration can be found in a Scunthorpe couple who have struck gold not just once but twice.

Not content with landing £1 million on EuroMillions in 2013, North Lincolnshire residents David and Kathleen Long continued to enter the game and were rewarded for a second time in last week’s Mega Friday draw, when they matched one of the ten Millionaire Maker codes. Lottery organisers Camelot have worked out the odds of their double win as 283 billion to one and describe the story as an ‘extraordinary situation’.

"As you can imagine, we see winners who win once who are very, very shocked. It must be even more shocking to win twice," said a Camelot spokesman.

The couple, who plan to celebrate their second £1 million scoop by going on a cruise, say they always believed that another windfall may come their way.

"I always knew I'd win, even the first time," said Mr Long. "I just had a feeling it was going to be me."

The success of the Longs shows that anything is possible and EuroMillions fans have another chance to earn a fortune on Good Friday, when the jackpot will stand at £10 million (€15 million). The top prize was won in Tuesday’s draw as a UK player matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to land £53.1 million and end a run of six rollovers.

Mr and Mrs Long may well be playing again tomorrow, but it could be someone else’s turn to strike it lucky in time for Easter. If you fancy playing then you can buy EuroMillions tickets online or from authorised retailers. Check Euro-Millions.com for the winning numbers after the draw and best of luck!
