EuroMillions Sees Two UK Jackpot Winners In the Same Week

The UK has seen two EuroMillions jackpot winners in the space of a week after one player won £15.2 million in Friday’s draw. In the draw before that, another UK ticket holder split a £33 million jackpot with a player from France.

The winning numbers from the EuroMillions draw on Friday 29th May were 4, 8, 11, 19, and 46, with Lucky Stars 4 and 8. One ticket holder matched all of them to become the second UK jackpot winner in the space of four days. The National Lottery is now waiting to hear from both winners, who have 180 days from the date of their respective winning draws to claim.

Andy Carter, the senior winners’ advisor at the National Lottery, said: “It's great news for a UK ticket-holder who has scooped tonight's £15.2 million EuroMillions jackpot. This winner follows hot on the heels of Tuesday's UK jackpot winner who won a massive £16.5 million - which is still waiting to be claimed.

“Players are urged to check their tickets online to see if they are one of The National Lottery's latest big winners.”

No further information will be released about either winner unless they decide to go public when they claim. If either of the winners doesn’t come forward to claim within two weeks, the National Lottery may reveal the location in which the winning ticket was bought.

Friday’s jackpot was the 11th to be won so far in 2020 and it was the fourth winner of the year to come from the UK. The last time there were UK jackpot winners in consecutive EuroMillions draws was in 2017 and the  circumstances of the wins were similar. On 14th February 2017, one UK winner split a £39 million jackpot with a player from Belgium, before one British winner landed a £14.5 million jackpot in the following draw on 17th February.

Following the latest win the EuroMillions jackpot will stick at its starting value of £15 million for the next draw on Tuesday 2nd June. It’s not very often that the jackpot is won in three consecutive draws but it does happen. The last such hat-trick was in 2015, when ticket holders from the UK and Portugal won jackpots in the three draws between 25th September and 2nd October.

There have, however, never been winners from the same country in three consecutive draws, so the next draw on Tuesday offers the chance to set a new record. Entries are available in-store and you can also buy tickets online.
