UK Winner Finally Claims £76 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

The winner of the £76 million EuroMillions jackpot from the start of November has finally come forward to claim their gigantic prize, six weeks after the draw took place. The delay had sparked fears that the lucky player might be unaware of their big win, but National Lottery officials have now confirmed that the money is set to be paid out.

What Do We Know About The Winner?

The UK winner was the only participant to match the full line on Friday 2nd November, scooping one of the biggest jackpots of the year and bringing a run of seven rollovers to an end. However, there was no word from the player in the first fortnight after the draw, prompting a campaign from the National Lottery to raise awareness among ticket holders to check their entries.

It was revealed that the winning ticket was sold in the Boston and Skegness Parliamentary Constituency, and now the player has staked a claim. A ticket validation appointment will take place so that the winner can receive their eight-figure prize.

The ticket holder will decide when they are paid whether they want to go public with their story or remain anonymous. No more information will be released about them unless they opt for publicity, but National Lottery bosses have already offered their congratulations.

It’s the 12th-Biggest UK Winner

“What a win for one lucky UK ticket holder,” said Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at the National Lottery. “This is the 12th-biggest winner ever in the UK and we very much look forward to toasting their win. Just imagine the Christmas this lucky ticket holder is now able to look forward to.

"By buying a ticket for EuroMillions or any other National Lottery game, every player is helping to raise money for Good Causes. Around £30 million is raised every week for projects across the UK, both big and small.”

UK players have 180 days from the date of a draw to come forward and claim any prizes they win, otherwise the money is transferred to the National Lottery’s Good Causes Fund. The latest winner still had until the start of May 2019 to stake their claim, and it is not unusual for participants to wait a few weeks to step forward.

The EuroMillions jackpot is currently worth £77 million ahead of Friday’s draw, so you could even eclipse the latest UK winner if you match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars. The game can be played via authorised retailers in nine participating countries, or you can take part online.
