€69 Million Jackpot Win for Portuguese EuroMillions Player

A player from Portugal has become the sixth jackpot winner of the year. They matched all the numbers on Friday to pocket a prize worth more than €69 million (£60 million).

The winning numbers for Friday 7th May were 14, 22, 33, 38 and 47, plus Lucky Stars 8 and 9. The jackpot had rolled over for the four previous draws and more than 27 million entries were submitted in total as participants from across Europe hunted down the eight-figure payout.

More than 2 million players were rewarded with prizes, but only one ticket corresponded exactly with all seven winning numbers. Go to the EuroMillions Results page for a full prize breakdown, plus details of all the supplementary results such as the Millionaire Maker.

The last time the jackpot was won was on Tuesday 20th April, when a UK player landed more than £59 million. Out of the six winners so far this year, three have come from the UK, one from Portugal, one from Spain and one from Switzerland. The Swiss player broke the record for the biggest win of all time, snapping up a jackpot of €210 million (£182 million) back in February.

Most Successful EuroMillions Countries

While Switzerland can lay claim to having the biggest-ever winner, the majority of the jackpots have gone to those countries which have the largest populations and therefore sell the most tickets.

The UK currently leads the way with 112 jackpot wins, out of a total of 507 since EuroMillions launched in 2004. France has created 110, Spain 107 and Portugal 79.

All nine participating countries have seen jackpot winners, though. Even Luxembourg, which has a population of around 600,000 people, has had three jackpot wins. Check out the Winner Statistics page to learn more about where and when the biggest prizes have been given away.

The month of May has historically been very lucky for EuroMillions players, with 41 jackpot winners - that’s more than have been seen in April, June, July and August.

There’s still plenty of time for more jackpot winners this May, before a Superdraw takes place on Friday 4th June when there will be a minimum top prize of €130 million on offer.
