Dijon Family Claims €83.3 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

A lucky family from Dijon has come forward to claim the €83.3 million (£70.8 million) EuroMillions jackpot won earlier this month. The top prize had rolled over for seven draws prior to the game on Tuesday 11th April, when one ticket bought in France matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to become the country’s sixth largest winner of all time.

The ticket belongs to a family who bought their ticket from the Tabac-Presse in the Place de la Republique in Dijon, and the husband and wife have now come forward to receive their winnings. They have decided to remain anonymous, but did tell French National Lottery officials that they only played one line on the game.

They are not regular players but do like to take part a few times a year when the jackpots grow bigger, and are now just starting to make sense of their new-found wealth. They plan to use some of the money to travel the world, but have no intention of giving up the jobs they love so much.

There have only been five French winners of bigger EuroMillions jackpots since the game was launched in 2004. Top of the list is the player from Alpes-Maritimes who won €169.8 million in November 2012, while four other ticket holders have landed prizes of at least €100 million. Take a look at the EuroMillions Winners page to find out about other big prizes given away over the past 13 years.

The EuroMillions jackpot has not been won since the players from Dijon matched the full winning line, and currently stands at £48 million (€57 million) ahead of Friday night’s draw. You can choose numbers online or visit an authorised retailer in any of the participating countries for your chance to win. Good luck!
