UK Winner Finally Claims £57.9 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

The EuroMillions jackpot winner from 10th July has claimed their prize two weeks after the draw took place. The UK player pocketed a gigantic £57.9 million to end a run of five rollovers and can now look forward to beginning life as one of the country’s biggest winners.

Lucky Player Waits For Two Weeks

The lucky ticket holder matched the numbers 3, 8, 26, 33 and 45, plus the Lucky Stars 7 and 10. It was announced straight away that the only winner on the night had played in the UK, but nobody came forward in the first week and National Lottery officials appealed for players to check their tickets.

UK players have 180 days to claim prizes, but there were a few doubts over whether the winner had maybe gone on holiday and forgotten to check the results. Another possibility was that they been ‘caught up in a World Cup frenzy’ as the draw in question had been held on the same night as one of the semi-finals.

The National Lottery planned to disclose more information this week about where the ticket had been bought, but the winner has now got in touch with them. “The whopping £57.9M EuroMillions jackpot won by a UK ticket-holder in the draw on 10th July has been claimed! Huge congratulations to the very lucky winner!” the National Lottery said in a tweet on Wednesday.

Senior Winners’ Advisor Andy Carter added: “What an amazing win for one lucky UK ticket holder. This win ranks at number 14 in the list of the biggest ever National Lottery winners and we look forward to helping them begin to enjoy their win.”

Biggest EuroMillions Winners

Colin and Chris Weir hold the record for the largest lottery win in the UK after landing £161.6 million back in July 2011. The jackpot cap at that time was €185 million, and it has since gone up to €190 million.
