The Winning Tickets and the All-Important Numbers
Two of the three winning tickets were purchased in the UK – in pounds sterling, the jackpot was worth £125.5 million, with each winner landing a prize of £41.8 million. The remaining lucky ticket was purchased from France's 'Française des Jeux' (FDJ, their national lottery operator), making them France's biggest lottery winner of 2026 so far.
The lucky numbers for the draw on Tuesday 21/04 were 13-16-29-40-47, with 3-4 for the Lucky Star numbers. The French winner has just 60 days in which to claim their prize, while the UK winners must claim within 180 days.
A Rare Triple-Win
What makes Tuesday's jackpot so special isn't the prize – although it's undoubtedly big, it's not breaking any records – it's the fact that there were three winners. This hasn't happened since May 2023, so it's a rare occurrence! Without knowing the total ticket sales for the draw, it's impossible to calculate the exact odds of three tickets landing the jackpot. The odds of any one number combination winning the jackpot, however, are 1 in 139,838,160.
A Global Jackpot Win?
As hinted in the introduction, the French winning ticket may not necessarily have been purchased in Europe. Unlike other nations with overseas possessions, it's possible to participate in EuroMillions from French overseas territories such as Réunion, French Guiana, New Caledonia, and ten others – collectively referred to as DOM-TOM. It's a possibility we can only rule out once the prize is claimed!
What now for EuroMillions fans?
Since the jackpot has been won, the EuroMillions top prize is now back down to €17 million (approximately £14 million). It will steadily increase for each draw it's not won, based on that draw's ticket sales.
