Big Ideas for Big Jackpots

As previously reported, the EuroMillions jackpot this Friday 4 March will be worth around €59 million (around £51 million) thanks to a triple rollover, so we thought it would be a good idea to provide some shopping-list ideas for anyone who is lucky enough to win that amount. We all know that even a standard EuroMillions jackpot of €15 million is more than enough to buy mansions and fast cars, so what could you do with almost six times as much? Read on and we’ll tell you…

A Castle in Europe
If you have always wanted to feel like royalty then a great way of doing just that might be to buy yourself a sizeable castle in Europe. In 2010 the Castle of Carbonana in Italy was advertised for £9 million, and similar properties are available with surprising regularity in Scotland, France, Germany and other European countries. Maintaining a castle requires quite a bit of cash on top, so although a regular EuroMillions win of €15 million would be enough to buy such a property, you would probably need many millions more to be able to live there in comfort. After all, just furnishing a castle would cost you quite a bit! Fortunately, if you were to win the €59 million jackpot this Friday you would have more than enough to live like a king or queen.

Your Own Island
Those of you who like the idea of living your life in as near to total isolation and privacy as possible might be better off buying your own island instead of (or as well as!) a castle. Islands are just like any other parcels of real estate, and can be bought and sold through specialist agents. Right now you could buy yourself the Ilha das Pacas, an island of 36,103 acres off the coast of Brazil, for around $10 million. There are of course more expensive islands that you can consider, but don’t forget to take travel costs into consideration too (it could be quite a distance to your nearest supermarket). Talking of travel costs, if you do buy yourself an island then maybe our next idea might also come in handy…

A Private Plane or Helicopter
Learning to fly your own private plane or helicopter could well be something that would suit some EuroMillions jackpot winners. Even if the notion of going to flying school doesn’t appeal, a €59 million jackpot would be more than enough to buy yourself a private plane or helicopter and hire a professional pilot to fly you around wherever you want, so the idea still has plenty of validity.

These three ideas are just for starters, and even if you pursued all three the chances are that you would still have quite a few of your millions left over to sustain your Euromillionaire lifestyle. Of course, you have to win the jackpot before you can actually spend it, so click here to buy your tickets and good luck in the draw!
