Since beginning the takeover of the National Lottery in 2024, Allywn has been making ongoing efforts to improve player experience. From 11pm on the 2nd of August to sometime on Monday on the 4th of August, the National Lottery will be undergoing an exciting upgrade in technology. This also marks the biggest technical development since 2009!
In regards to this new upgrade, the Director of Operations at Allwyn, Jenny Blogg, has said: “This includes introducing a fresh new look in our 43,500 retail partners with new stands, dispensers and signage, as well as rolling out state-of-the-art lottery terminals and a new in-store network provided by Vodafone.”
This is to introduce new terminal software into approximately 8,000 UK stores that will provide a long-awaited and vital boost in modernisation, store systems, and security. These 8,000 stores will be receiving a brand-new ‘wave’ of terminals. Other stores will use updated software on their current machines, with plans for the new terminals arriving later in the year.
As part of this process, only UK players will not have access to buy or claim draw tickets in-store, from late Saturday night until late Monday. For any scratch card fans, you will still be able to purchase these within this timeframe.
Jenny Blogg has also stated the following about the disruption: “While these significant updates will mean short-term disruption for players and our retail partners, they will allow us to deliver on our promise to bring new, exciting games to The National Lottery; a better player experience; and our commitment to double returns to Good Causes from £30m to £60m every week by the end of the 10-year licence.”
The National Lottery website will also be down from between the 2nd and 4th of August. Luckily, for any players who still want to take part in draw games like the EuroMillions, you can still take part in the game online through our site! No other countries will be affected by this, but for our UK players, remember that you will still have plenty of time after services to resume on Monday to be involved in the next EuroMillions draw on the 5th August!
Don’t forget, even though the National Website and App will be offline during, you can still check results for previous EuroMillions results here during this time.
