Irish Player Wins Record-Equalling €250 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

A lucky ticket holder from Ireland has become the joint-largest EuroMillions winner of all time after banking a jackpot worth €250 million in the latest draw on Tuesday 17th June.

After a run of 20 consecutive rollovers propelled the jackpot to its maximum amount, anticipation was high across Europe and millions of entries were sold. All eyes were on the draw studio in Paris and the winning numbers were revealed to be 13, 22, 23, 44 and 49, with Lucky Stars 3 and 5.

It turned out to be a great night for all the players who picked up prizes, while there were even more huge payouts in the associated draws played in different countries - such as the UK Millionaire Maker, Ireland Only Raffle, France’s My Million and Spanish El Millón. Go to the Results page for full draw details.

The biggest celebration, though, was seen in Ireland as a single participant matched all the numbers to instantly take their place among the top EuroMillions winners. No more information was released about the player immediately after the draw, but it was later announced that the ticket had been sold at a retail outlet in the province of Munster.

UPDATE: The Irish Lottery confirmed on Thursday that a player from Co Cork had made contact with the Prize Claims team. The ticket was bought at Clifford’s Centra on Shandon Street in Cork city centre.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have heard from our EuroMillions winner,” said Irish Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan. “At this point, our priority is to give them the necessary time and space to make arrangements and let this life-changing news sink in.”

Tuesday’s draw was the fourth at the jackpot cap of €250 million after climbing all the way from its starting platform of €17 million. EuroMillions rules only permit the jackpot to stay at that value for a maximum of four draws, so Friday’s draw would have been a special ‘Must Be Won’ event if nobody had matched all the numbers on Tuesday. Instead, the record-equalling jackpot has been toppled at the fourth time of asking.

A Momentous 2025

The two biggest jackpots in EuroMillions history have now both been won within the last three months. A player from Austria snapped up €250 million on 28th March with a €10 ticket purchased online, extending a remarkable record for the central European Alpine nation - Austria had also seen a €240 million payout in December 2023.

Austria’s top-two monopoly has now been broken up by the Irish winner of €250 million in Tuesday’s draw. It will be intriguing to find out whether the latest winner goes public or keeps their identity private when they do come forward.

After such a spectacular start to 2025, attention now turns to the rest of the year. The saying goes that ‘good things come in threes’, so perhaps the €250 million jackpot limit will be reached for a third time in the next few months.

A knock-on effect of the latest long jackpot run was that a planned €130 million Superdraw on 6th June was effectively postponed. That money is still in the Reserve Fund, ready to be used, so more special promotions or jackpot events can be expected in the near future.

For now, the jackpot will reset to €17 million for the next draw. Go to a local retailer to buy a ticket or choose your numbers online.
