Special Ireland Only Raffle Draw to Take Place in May

It has been confirmed that a special Ireland Only Raffle draw will take place on Friday 5th May, with one lucky ticket holder guaranteed to win a top prize of €1 million.

Introduced in September last year as part of a number of changes made to EuroMillions, Ireland Only Raffle draws take place after every Tuesday and Friday and guarantees ten players a prize of €5,000 each. One unique four-letter, five-digit code is generated for every line played and entry is included in the price of each ticket.

From time to time, special draws are held in which the ten winning Ireland Only Raffle codes are entered into a second draw; the winner of this is then rewarded with an additional €1 million, while the remaining nine entrants receive their original €5,000 prize. For more information, head to the Ireland Only Raffle page.

This will be the second special draw of its kind, with the first having taken place on Friday 17th February. The €1 million prize was won by a fortuitous lottery fan from Co Leitrim who purchased his ticket from the Newtowngore Post Office on the day of the draw. “I was absolutely over the moon,” the winner told reporters when he thought he had won €5,000, only to be stunned to learn that his ticket had actually scooped a seven-figure sum.

It isn’t just the winning players who benefit from Ireland’s EuroMillions games. For every ticket purchased, €0.30 is donated to the Good Causes fund which helps charitable organisations across the country; this fund raised over €200 million in 2016 alone.
