Two Winners Split £70 Million Jackpot

The EuroMillions jackpot finally dropped on Friday after two winners matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to split a jackpot of just under £70 million (€80 million). The winning tickets were bought in Portugal and Spain.

EuroMillions Results From Friday 1st June

The winning numbers from Friday’s draw were 17, 18, 24, 29, and 40, with Lucky Stars 4 and 5. There were over two million winners on the night, who each won prizes ranging from £2.90 (€3.30) for matching just two numbers to £122,898.20 (€140,283) for matching five numbers. There were no winners in the five plus one Lucky Star tier.

Friday’s jackpot was advertised at £65 million (€75 million) heading into the draw, after it had rolled over six consecutive times. The lucky winners will each walk away with just short of £35 million (€40 million) each after money from the EuroMillions Booster Fund was used to add even more value to the top prize.

Spain’s winning ticket was bought in the port city of Tarragona in Catalonia. Marta Fernandez, the owner of the lottery booth from which the ticket was bought, said: “I'm amazed, we had not given such a big prize,” adding that she hopes the win will help increase sales as customers flock to the lucky booth.

The win continues Spain’s run as one of the most successful EuroMillions countries, with 86 jackpots claimed there since the lottery began. It is second only to France, where 87 jackpots have been claimed. France leads the way in terms of overall winners too, where an incredible 572 million players have won some sort of prize, but Spain falls to third in this respect, behind the United Kingdom, which is also home to more than half a billion winners.

El Millón Reaches Milestone

It was also a notable draw in the El Millón raffle, as the total prize money awarded over the game’s history reached €100 million. The game is exclusive to Spain, and every player in the country who enters the main EuroMillions draw is also entered into the raffle. One unique raffle code is drawn every Friday and the lucky player with the matching code on their ticket wins €1 million. El Millón Plus raffles, in which more than one winning code is drawn, mean that the €100 million milestone has been reached in just 88 draws. The winning code from Friday’s El Millón raffle was DHH86726.

Jackpot Resets to £14 Million

The next EuroMillions draw takes place on Tuesday 5th June, and the jackpot stands at £14 million (€16 million). You can buy tickets from authorised retailers in any of the participating countries or you can join a syndicate online. Syndicates give you the opportunity to play multiple lines of numbers without having to increase your stake, giving you an even better chance of winning.
