UK Player Wins £114 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

A EuroMillions player from the UK scooped £114 million in last night’s draw to become the country’s fourth-biggest winner of all time and start the new year with a bang. The gigantic jackpot had been created by a run of 12 rollovers at the end of 2018.

Winning EuroMillions Numbers

The numbers drawn on Tuesday 1st January were 1, 8, 11, 25 and 28, with Lucky Stars 4 and 6. Over 2.7 million prizes were given away as ticket holders from all nine participating countries brought in 2019 in style, but there was only a single entry which matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars.

On a remarkable evening for UK players, ten players also pocketed £1 million each in the special Millionaire Maker draw held to mark New Year’s Day. Go to the EuroMillions Results page to see a list of all the winning codes, along with a full prize breakdown from the main draw.

Another Big UK Winner

There have now been 75 jackpots won in the UK since EuroMillions began in 2004, but only three have been larger than the latest massive prize. Adrian and Gillian Bayford scooped £161 million in August 2012, while Chris and Colin Weir landed £148 million in July 2011. A player from the UK also won £121 million in April 2018, but opted to stay anonymous when they collected their money.

The latest winner has 180 days to claim their prize and it may be that they do not come forward immediately, just like the Boston builder Andrew Clark, who only made contact with the National Lottery just before Christmas - six weeks after matching all the numbers in the draw on 2nd November.

Congratulating the winner from New Year’s Day, the National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor Andy Carter said: “What a start to 2019 for UK EuroMillions players. A single ticket holder has banked the entire £114.9M EuroMillions jackpot and become the fourth-biggest winner this country has ever seen.

Check Your Tickets

“As if that wasn’t enough, a further ten UK players have each banked £1 million in the special New Year’s Day draw. All players are urged to check their tickets to see if they are a big winner and can turn 2019 into one long celebration."

You can use the EuroMillions Checker to check both your main numbers and raffle codes from recent draws, and if you missed out on a prize there will be another chance to win big in Friday’s £15 million draw.
