Will EuroMillions Stop Rolling?

Will EuroMillions stop rolling this Friday? That’s the question on the lips of lottery players across Europe and beyond as the draw for the 5x rollover jackpot of around €105 million (around £90 million) looms ever closer. There are, of course, positive aspects to both scenarios, so players shouldn’t be too disappointed, whatever happens... If one or more players matches all of the numbers required to land the jackpot then we all get to celebrate another bumper win.

Obviously, nobody would be celebrating more than the winners themselves, but big jackpot payouts are good for the game (because they generate positive media coverage and inspire new players to get involved), so we should all be able to smile even if we don’t happen to win a share of the jackpot personally.

If no player matches all of the numbers required to land the jackpot then we will be able to look forward to an even bigger EuroMillions jackpot just one week later. And in the meantime, our favourite lottery game would still attract plenty of media coverage and increase the number of players who choose to get involved. Plus, we could still win a big prize in this Friday’s draw even if the jackpot itself isn’t won.

We won’t know whether EuroMillions will stop rolling this Friday or not until the draw takes place, but when we look at the big picture we shouldn’t really care. Every ticket purchased has a 1 in 24 chance of winning any prize at all, so regardless of whether the jackpot is won, plenty of non-jackpot prizes will be paid out to those who match three or more numbers from the seven that are available.
