EuroMillions Players in Ireland Urged to Check Their Tickets

National Lottery officials in Ireland are urging EuroMillions players to check their tickets following Friday’s Ireland Only Raffle draw. The special Black Friday edition of the game produced one winner of a €1 million fortune, however, no contact has been made regarding the huge prize.

A Winning EuroMillions Ticket in Waterford

The winning entry was purchased from the SuperValu store in the Kilbarry Centre on Tramore Road in Co Waterford and successfully matched the code I-CWQ-43032. The store’s manager Karl Carter was on hand to share his reaction with reporters and spread the joyous news: "We’re absolutely delighted. It’s been great craic spreading the word to our customers this morning,” he said. "Myself and our staff will be reminding all of our customers to get checking those tickets!"

When quizzed on who the winner could be, Mr Carter drew a blank, despite his ties to the local community: "I haven’t a clue who the winner is but the €7 Quick Pick ticket was bought in the store [on Friday].” However, the perky proprietor did suggest that the money would come in handy over the festive period: “Whoever it is is about to have a great Christmas.”

What is the Ireland Only Raffle?

The Ireland Only Raffle is a supplementary game that is included in the price of all EuroMillions entries purchased in Ireland. Draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays after every regular EuroMillions draw and offer prizes of €5,000 to ten ticket holders who match an alphanumeric code printed at the bottom of their entry.

Special Ireland Only Raffle Draws

Occasionally, special draws take place in which one of the ten winners receives an additional €1 million in prize money. This was the fourth special draw of this kind this year, with the first event taking place on Friday 17th February. The second draw was held on Friday 5th May and saw a family from Co Kildare land a prize that they stated would help them gain a foot on the housing ladder.

However, claims are still yet to be made for the final two prizes of the year, with the seven-figure sum won on Friday 27th October joining the latest amount in waiting to be united with its owner. The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at the Londis Attyfinlay Autocentre in Carrick on Shannon, Co Leitrim. For more information, head to the Unclaimed Prizes page.
