Portuguese Player Picks Up €61.6 Million EuroMillions Jackpot

A ticket holder from Portugal matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday 20th December to end a run of four rollovers and scoop a stupendous jackpot of €61.6 million (£51.8 million). On a tremendous night across the continent, more than 2 million players won prizes to get the festive season off to the perfect start.

The numbers drawn last night were 13, 15, 17, 21 and 27 with Lucky Stars 2 and 3. The lucky jackpot winner, who played in Lisbon, became the 62nd participant from Portugal to land the game’s top prize. Portugal is still fourth in the table of EuroMillions Winners by country, but is now just one behind the UK’s total of 63.

There were 14 ticket holders, including another six from Portugal, who matched five main numbers plus one Lucky Star last night to pick up £43,276 (€67,191) each. The remaining prizes ranged from £2.50 (€3.80) for matching two main numbers to £9,407 (€14,606) for matching five main numbers.

The UK produced the most prize winners of all the participating countries, with over 430,000, as the December edition of Mega Week kicked off in fine style. There were five winning UK Millionaire Maker codes last night, giving each lucky ticket holder the chance to enjoy a luxury skiing holiday to Switzerland in addition to receiving £1 million. Another five UK players will win the same prize in the second part of Mega Week on Friday night, when the EuroMillions jackpot will stand at £14 million (€17 million).
