UK Millionaire Raffle
2nd September 2009 3:15 PM
A UK Millionaire Raffle game will give UK EuroMillions players an extra chance to win £1,000,000 in each weekly draw. The new tickets will cost more than the standard EuroMillions tickets cost, but for every line of numbers entered in the usual way, UK players will get a randomly generated raffle numbers consisting of three letters and six numbers. A Millionaire Raffle draw will be held every Friday after the main EuroMillions draw has taken place, and the person who has the winning ticket will become a millionaire.
Because the Millionaire Raffle draw will always produce one winning ticket, a UK millionaire is guaranteed every week. Millionaire Raffle tickets will be sold from Saturday 7 November, 2009, and the first Millionaire Raffle game will be held on Friday 13 November.
It is not yet known whether the Millionaire Raffle ticket will replace the standard EuroMillions ticket in the UK or whether the new ‘double draw’ ticket will be available alongside the existing EuroMillions-only tickets. What we do know is that the UK Millionaire Raffle is certain to be very popular among UK lottery players, because it effectively gives them a second chance of winning each and every Friday.
The Chief Executive of the company that organises the National Lottery games in the UK said: “Since we launched EuroMillions in 2004 it has really captured the public’s imagination, creating big multi-million pound winners and offering more prize tiers than any other National Lottery draw-based game – as well as boosting returns to the Good Causes in the UK. Raffles are already popular with people across the UK, and in other lotteries around the world. With the new ‘Millionaire Raffle’ we want to offer the best of both worlds – making EuroMillions even more exciting for our players by giving them another opportunity to win big by creating a guaranteed UK millionaire every single week!”
If the Millionaires Raffle game does well in the UK (and we think that it probably will) then other EuroMillions countries might decide to do something similar. As for right now, we have a great EuroMillions rollover jackpot of €28 million (around £25 million) to play for. Play online today and the jackpot could be yours!
