Warrington Dad Nets Big Win with Last-Minute EuroMillions Ticket

A father of two from Warrington is celebrating ‘the best ever start to 2016’ after scooping a seven-figure sum on EuroMillions with a ticket bought just before sales closed. John Gill, 56, was one of the five Millionaire Maker winners in the Christmas Day draw after deciding to enter just an hour before the draw.

As the draw formed part of Mega Week, John can also look forward to a week-long trip to Sweden to stay in the sumptuous Copperhill Mountain Lodge in Äre. He has already bought new mobile phones for his son and daughter and is planning a trip to the Grand Canyon - as well as purchasing a white Jaguar.

“All those things that have been on our bucket list can now become a reality. Winning the lottery just opens up so many doors and the choices are endless,” John said in the Liverpool Echo, as he also admitted that he initially thought that he had only won £100 rather than £1 million. As the realisation of how much he had won dawned, he says he ‘just kept staring at the noughts’ and thinking he might be ‘going cross-eyed’.

John’s success shows that you can strike it lucky with a EuroMillions ticket regardless of what time you enter the draw. Check out the section on how Millionaire Maker works for a detailed explanation on how the winning codes are selected and why the odds of success vary from draw to draw.

As John and his wife Patricia look forward to ticking off everything on their bucket list, tonight’s EuroMillions draw offers the chance for other players to win life-changing amounts of money and do the same. It has also emerged this week that Nigel and Justine Page, who won a £56 million jackpot in 2010, have paid £6 million for a new mansion in the Coltswolds despite not yet selling their £4.5 million eco-home down the road.

If you match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars this evening you will grab a share of the £36.3 million (€49 million) top prize and be able to buy a luxury mansion of your own, or perhaps a Jaguar just like John Gill. There have been four rollovers since the jackpot was last won, but the turn of the year could just bring a change of fortune, and you can buy tickets from authorised retailers in participating countries or online up until 7.30pm. Good luck!
