How Superdraws Work
Superdaws are special draws that take place every few months. The key difference to a normal draw is that the jackpot is a guaranteed amount, regardless of whether there has just been a winner or not.
The value of the top prize for the September Superdraw will be €130 million as usual, even if €100 million or more has to be added to the pot. The money comes from the Reserve Fund, which receives an allocation from the prize fund in every draw so that exciting promotions can go ahead.
Without Superdraws, it can take a few weeks for a jackpot to build up to nine figures. Knowing when there is one around the corner allows you to plan your participation over the upcoming weeks, as well as your strategy for the draw itself.
The Superdraw itself will work the same as any regular draw. There’s no extra cost or different way to play. And if the jackpot rolls over, it will continue to climb as usual - it could even go on to reach its €250 million limit yet again!
Big Wins in 2025
There’s actually only been one Superdraw so far in 2025. It came back in March, and set in motion a jackpot run that ended with an Austrian ticket holder becoming the first player in EuroMillions history to land €250 million.
A summer Superdraw was scheduled for June, but it was effectively cancelled as the jackpot at the time it would have taken place had already gone above €130 million. In fact, it had gone far above €130 million! A family syndicate from Ireland pocketed €250 million later in June to equal the record set by the Austrian three months earlier.
An extraordinary year for EuroMillions wins continued in the very next jackpot cycle, as the top prize grew all the way from its starting value back to the cap once again. A French participant then became the latest member of the €250 million club when they matched all the numbers on Tuesday, 19th August.
The participating national lotteries have now decided to line up the next Superdraw quickly. We’ll have to wait to see whether it paves the way for another win at the jackpot cap, or perhaps someone will win on the night this time. Get ready to take part in the big event and, in the meantime, keep up to date with the latest EuroMillions Results every Tuesday and Friday night.
